Does Dental Insurance Cover Implants?

Dental insurance can help with part of the cost of dental implants, but it rarely covers everything. Here’s what’s usually covered, what isn’t, and how our team helps you get the most from your benefits. For the bigger picture, see our dental implant cost guide for Mesa.

It can, depending on what you need, and what your insurance covers. Some plans cover a single implant. Some cover the extraction portion. If you have benefits, we will help you maximize them in order to save you the most money. If you’re on Medicare, here’s whether Medicare covers dental implants.

Whatever remains, we’ll work out together with you, whether you’d rather make monthly payments or pay everything at once, it’s up to you. That way, you’ll know exactly what your out-of-pocket cost will be before you ever commit to treatment.

Which Parts of Treatment Might Insurance Cover?

My Dental Implant Center works with dental insurance; we don’t accept medical insurance. This is unfortunate because we know dental implants are certainly medically necessary. You were born with teeth, and you need them. But insurance tends to see dentures as sufficient. In reality, removable teeth are often not the best solution.

With dental insurance, we commonly see coverage for:

  • Removable dentures
  • Extractions
  • Occasionally, some implant coverage

All dental insurance has limitations and annual maximums. Many patients’ benefits max out at around $1,500, while the procedure can cost significantly more. So insurance usually covers only a small portion, but if you have benefits, we’ll make sure you use the benefits you paid for. You can also cover the rest by using your HSA for implants.

Will My Dental Implant Center Verify My Benefits?

Yes, as a courtesy. Our team will:

  • Check your benefits
  • Help you plan your treatment to use the benefits you have
  • Submit a pre-authorization if it’s required
  • Submit claims on your behalf
  • Appeal and send documentation if a claim is denied

By doing this, we take the administrative load off you, and we’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

Why Is Insurance Coverage Always an Estimate?

With insurance, everything is an estimate. Insurance companies sometimes push back, even on benefits they’ve promised. Our billing department advocates for our patients and holds the insurance company accountable. If they say they’ll cover something, we hold them to it, to the best of our ability.

What If My Insurance Denies Coverage After I’ve Started Treatment?

It’s rare. But because insurance coverage is always an estimate, we set that expectation with you in advance. If the insurance company doesn’t cover a portion, you would be responsible for that cost.

What’s the Next Step?

For whatever insurance doesn’t cover, our dental partner lenders offer monthly payments starting as low as $149, and checking your options won’t hit your credit. Before you commit, review these questions to ask before accepting dental implant treatment. Bring your insurance information and schedule your complimentary consultation.

Financing is subject to credit approval by our lending partners. Promotional terms are for a limited time, can change and cannot be combined with other offers.
